Book Cover Analysis

Several themes and trends run throughout the book covers that were provided. One of which is color. It has a common color pallet of oranges and reds as well as yellows. With my limited knowledge of the book, I feel that these colors symbolize the burning of books as well as the tension and anger felt through the book. The color of the cover is important because it can set the tone for the book and its themes. Another reoccurring object is a man sometimes a firefighter, sometimes a man covered in burning paper. This bit confuses me a little; it brings up images of the perpetrator as well as the victim. From this I assume that the book is balanced in its view of each side, or that there is a character caught in the middle. One obvious trend is fire. With my basic knowledge I know that the books are burned whish is the obvious reason for those flames. Another more subtle trend was that the numbers 451 where by far the largest of all the text found on the book. Some more themes where the intimidation and futuristic feel the cover gave. Two covers stood out to me. One was the last one with the robot looking dog and man in an empty street. This made me think futuristic because of the implication of robots and the end of the world. The one that made me feel intimidation was the one with the words read and destroy across the cover. This was interesting to me because of the bluntness of it.
